 Freeview

Cheapest and easiest option, around 30 TV channels plus radio, through your existing TV aerial or if your signal is not good enough you may need a new aerial. No subscription, three HD channels coming in late 2009. Add a selection of live and on-demand channels with TOP-UP TV, and Premiership football from Setanta.
When Freeview HD launches you will need a new box to get HD. Around 30 per cent of homes need an aerial upgrade. The number of Freeview channels can not be increased.


 FREESAT Freesat

More than 100 channels through a satellite dish, with no subscription. Includes HD from the BBC and ITV. Ethernet expansion for on-demand in 2009, and final line-up will exceed 200 channels. Freesat equipment is designed for ease of use.
Most receivers have limited features for tuning non-Freesat channels(except Humax).
